Meet the Family



Hi! I'm Whitney {Powell} Brink and I was born and raised in good ol' Muscle Shoals, AL.  I have an awesome family: my dad, Jackie, my mom, Nancy, and my younger sister, Lindsay.  We are a tight-knit foursome... Yep, I'm one of those girls that talks to her mom and sister almost daily (although, sometimes it's through text) and we hang out pretty much on a weekly basis.  I had a happy childhood and never doubted my parent's love and support.  As much as I loved my family then, I love and appreciate them even more now that I'm an adult... and somewhere along the way, my parents became fun to hang out with.  I attended the University of North Alabama thanks to an academic scholarship and that's where I met my handsome husband Jamie.  We eyed one another all semester long during a class we had together and finally after several months, Jamie introduced himself to me and it was all history from there.  We started dating within a few weeks and I knew he was the one for me shortly after. 

We've been married since August 9, 2003, just 3 months after I graduated from UNA with a Business Degree in Marketing.  For our first 4 childless years of marriage, I worked at the Marriott Shoals Hotel & Spa as a Sales Manager.  I LOVED my job and our sales team and had a blast during my time there.  But now, almost 6 years later, I have the best job I could have ever landed, to be a stay at home mommy to my 2 awesome, sweet, and silly boys.  I love being a mom and wouldn't trade it for any other career.  It's overwhelming, exhausting, fun, and rewarding all at the same time.  Even though I've been at home with my boys for the past 6 years, I can't say I've got it down to a tee but a hard day at home beats a great day at any other job.



When I'm not changing diapers, playing with choo-choos and toy cars or reading books to my little ones, I enjoy date nights with my husband, reading a good book, spending quality time with my girl friends, monogramming/appliqueing (or is it appliquing?) clothes for my boys, any kind of DIY craft project, or just relaxing and catching up on my favorite shows courtesy of the DVR.  I love Alabama football, taking pictures, traveling, roller coasters, Christmas holidays, birthdays, cappucinos, Mexican food, Pinterest, ghost stories and singing karaoke!

I began this blog as a form of therapy in being a first time mom and raising a child with special needs. It's definitely not a walk in the park. However, Noah's disability doesn't define him, or us for that matter. We are so much more! This is our story about our life as a family of four. The sweet moments. The little things that I don't want to forget. And all of the ordinary details that make this life so EXTRAordinary to me!

JAMIE

My best friend, an amazing dad and such a hard-worker.  Loves playing golf, Duke basketball, Alabama football and working out.  Gives great advice, is the most generous person I know,

and is admittedly OCD about doing laundry and ironing.  And the thing he adores the MOST is when I pull out the trusty 'ol camera for family photo time.  HA!  A girl can wish, right? 

  

 

NOAH

Our first born and easy-going son.  Noah had some difficulties during his delivery and has special needs. He may not be able to talk to you verbally, but he has a heart of gold and a smile that lights up the room. He also understand ALOT of what is being said to him.  His laugh is contagious and he's the most popular guy at his school!  He loves reading books, being outside and riding the lawn mower with his Papa. 

  

 COLLIER

The baby of our family.  Collier always has a smile on his face and is a little bundle of energy.

You never know what will come out of his mouth and he keeps us in hysterics.  He is talking from the moment his feet hit the floor in the morning, until he shuts his eyes for bed each night.  He's smart as a whip and loves all things electronic, pretty much anything with wheels, riding in is daddy's truck, and his stuffed puppy, Brownie.
